Cleansing Oils and Why They're Good for Your Skin

According to well+Good in 2016 you're going to see alot of brands joining in this holistic approach to skin care. Oil is able to break down dirt and oil on your face versus water-based cleansers. Massaging oil into the skin creates heat and gently opens pores, making the cleansing process much more effective.

First though you need to know your skin type. This is key! And another reason why you see someone like me, your esthetician. That way you can use the CORRECT OILS for your skin. But it'll clog my pores! I'm already oily! I'll get acne! I know it sounds scary but it's not, trust me.

Oil will not clog your pores or cause acne. Why because oil (or sebum) is already naturally occuring in your skin - your sebaceous glands are constantly pumping it out, some more then others. Acne is caused when hair follicles become clogged with oil and dead skin cells. But topical facial oils do not speed up this process and can actually help balance and improve acne-prone skin.

Oils will not make our skin feel greasy because facial oils are light weight and fast absorbing.

And my all time favorite fact about oil is that oils protect your skin and make you look younger! What?! That's right I said that oils protect your skin and keep you looking younger! Oils are packed with antioxidents Vitamin C and E, which fight free radicals and help reverse sun damage. As we get older, our body's natural oil protection slows down. This can make wrinklws appear deeper and more defined. But topical oils help replinish what we've lost.

Now to the fun part! What oils will work best for my skin type?
